FAQs

How much does therapy cost?

Intake/initial sessions are $140. After the initial assessment, based upon how intensive therapy needs to be, clients are able to schedule 30 minute sessions for $75 per session, 45 minute sessions for  $100 per session and 55 minute sessions for $120 per session. 

Where are you located?

I’m located in Michigan and provide virtual therapy services for people in the state of Michigan via a HIPPA compliant platform. 

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Insurance companies often requires an immediate diagnosis of your mental health condition and if the diagnosis isn’t deemed acceptable, the insurance company can deny payment, ultimately leaving you to foot the bill. Some mental health diagnoses can be stigmatizing and stay on your medical record permanently. Insurance companies often require reports noting what was completed during your session to justify payment and can limit the amount of therapy sessions you are able to attend. With that said, you are not your diagnosis and as an adult, you don’t need anyone dictating how you receive therapy and how often you do. 

 

If you would still like to try to use your insurance you can contact your insurance carrier to confirm your Out of Network benefits to see if they will reimburse you for your sessions.  With that said- you will be provided a super bill to send to your insurance carrier that will contain a mental health diagnosis. 

When contacting your insurance carrier you will need to ask:

– Do I have Out of Network Coverage?

– Do I need prior authorization?

– How much is my deductible and how much of the deductible payment is left before I am reimbursed?

-How much of the fee will be reimbursed?

-How do I submit my therapy receipts?

-What address should my receipts be sent to?

-Do I need to submit any additional documentation or forms when submitting my therapy receipts?

 

What should I expect for my first session?

All intake paperwork will need to be completed prior to the initial session. You will need wifi or a strong internet connection. You will also need to be in a safe space where you feel comfortable conducting your session. (Please note that you are able to sit in a non-moving vehicle during the duration of the session, however sessions are not able to be conducted while you are operating a moving vehicle- doing so will result in the session ending immediately as this is a safety hazard.)


It is completely normal to be nervous. Expect to show up as yourself and for us to begin building rapport. It will not be a full therapy session but more like an in-depth consultation, as this time is needed for me to ask questions, for us to gain a deeper understanding of the work we need to conduct together, what goals you would like to accomplish, the type of treatment I need to provide you and the best ways for me to support you during this process. 

What if I need to cancel?

I understand stuff happens and things arise. I ask that, if possible, you contact me to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours ahead of time. All notices received less than 24 hours will be subjected to the full cost of the session. If you are able to reschedule your session for the same week, that charge will be applied to the new appointment. If you reschedule your appointment and late cancel or no-show the rescheduled appointment, you will forfeit the cost of the initial session and be charged full fee for the rescheduled session as well.
